About the Role

At Black Boys Code, we’re on a mission to introduce Black boys aged 8-17 to the exciting world of computer science through Exposure Workshops, Hackathons, and STEM conferences. To support our rapid growth across the United States, we’re looking for a dynamic and dedicated Chapter Leader to oversee our Black Boys Code Chapter in ATLANTA and CHARLOTTE, NC.
As Chapter Leader, you will lead a passionate team of volunteers to execute our initiatives, deliver engaging programming, and foster strong relationships with schools, parents, and local organizations. Your work will empower boys to see themselves as technological innovators and leaders in the digital age.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to deliver high-quality programming in chapter.
Onboard and mentor core team members, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Organize and delegate tasks, including Technology Exposure Workshop planning and execution.
Track chapter performance through surveys, feedback, and other evaluation tools.
Provide feedback, support, and recognition to ensure volunteer retention and satisfaction.
Community Outreach

Act as the primary representative for the chapter, building relationships with schools, community organizations, and youth-serving agencies.
Deliver presentations and host town halls to disseminate program information and drive community engagement.
Cultivate strong partnerships with local stakeholders and identify opportunities for collaboration and sponsorship.
Program Development and Event Execution

Plan, organize, and execute chapter programs and events, including workshops, STEM conferences, and Hackathons.
Identify and secure venues for workshops and events.
Track and report on volunteer statistics, participant feedback, and overall program impact.
Key Accountabilities

Raise awareness about Black Boys Code programs in Chapter
Increase participation and engagement in programs through effective outreach.
Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders and organizations.
Identify and secure resources for workshops and events.
Track the success of chapter activities through surveys, testimonials, and data reports.
Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, education, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in people and project management.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technology-related role.
Strong community presence with an established network of contacts.
Demonstrated experience in community outreach and volunteer coordination.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with volunteer management best practices.
Flexible, adaptable, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Passion for empowering youth and engaging with communities.
Must pass a Vulnerable Sector background check.
Other Details

Location: Hybrid role; Candidates must reside in the Chapter Geographical area and available for regular on-site activities.
Schedule: Flexible, with evening and weekend work required for events and workshops.
Transportation: Ability to commute to various locations for community outreach and events.

Number of successful chapter events organized.
Increased youth enrollment and volunteer engagement.
Effectiveness and reach of community outreach activities.
Engagement and participation levels in programs and workshops.
Number of partnerships established with schools, organizations, and businesses.
