Responsibilities

Operate the RTMC’s Traffic Management Systems in the Metro area, dispatch the Freeway Incident Response Team drivers, and inform motorists of traffic problems, road work, and incidents.
Assist MnDOT Maintenance Dispatch and State Patrol Dispatch in locating traffic incidents on metro area freeways.
Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, Transportation Program Specialist 1 applicants must meet one of the following and all the requirements outlined below:
One (1) year of professional (MAPE 05L or higher) experience demonstrating the requirements listed below.
OR Two (2) years of advanced clerical (61L and higher) experience demonstrating the requirements listed below.
OR Two (2) years of technical or para-professional experience demonstrating the requirements listed below.
Experience as a call-taker or dispatcher in a public safety dispatch center, reporting for a traveler information center, as a freeway incident responder, or in another similar function. Work experience must also demonstrate:
Comprehensive knowledge of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area freeway system sufficient to direct responding agency to location of call.
Written communication skills in English sufficient to create e-mails and reports using appropriate spelling and grammar.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a FIRST driver or State Patrol Radio Communication Operator (dispatcher).
Previous experience using CCTV surveillance cameras and/or monitoring public safety radio transmissions.
