Electrical Controls Engineer (Bilingual Japanese/English) - Manassas, VA
Shibuya Hoppmann Corporation has an immediate opening for a Bilingual (Japanese/English) Electrical Controls Engineer.
The position will be based out of our Manassas, VA headquarters office, but work will be primarily located at customer sites and will therefore require significant domestic and some international travel.
Job Summary:
Implement and support electrical control systems for industrial automation, ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable operation of machinery and processes, requiring expertise in PLCs, HMIs, and electrical hardware/software integration.
In this Electrical Controls Engineer role, you can expect to:
Support our Field Service team in providing on-site programming and debugging support during installation and commissioning of Shibuya Filling Systems, as well as programming, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support during scheduled and emergency systems maintenance.
Support our Field Service team in programming a variety of manufacturing process control systems that integrate new and existing hardware and software into customers’ current control systems.
Work with mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineers on integrated systems, providing programming and debugging support for packaging and assembly systems that are in development and/or currently in production.
Prepare project documentation (installation diagrams, material lists)
Ensure designs meet industry standards, company SOPs, and customer requirements.
Qualifications:
Must be functionally bilingual (Japanese/English)
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Proven experience in controls engineering, automation, and PLC programming
Strong understanding of electrical theory, control systems and automation
Strong communication and project management skills
Willingness to travel and work off-hours to meet project needs
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and current passport (or ability get a passport)
Must be able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted, and have full range of motion to reach, climb, stoop, kneel and step over equipment easily.
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.
Experience with food/beverage processing machinery preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates who have authorization to work in the United States, but support in obtaining a work visa may be provided.
Experience working with a Japanese company preferred.
Understanding of both Japanese and US business culture would also be helpful.
