
HELP OUT: Reality Changers Fundraising Gala Support

The Ripple Effect is Reality Changers's Annual Fundraising Gala which takes place at the Prado in Balboa Park. Reality Changers is a nonprofit organization in San Diego that prepares youth to become first-generation college graduates and supports them every step of the way. Funds raised from the gala will support local youth in creating change for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
Key Responsibilities:
Set up (12:45 pm - 4:30 pm)
Checking in guests, supporting the silent auction, and breakdown (3:30 pm - 10:30 pm)
Skills & Qualifications:
Volunteers should have some customer service experience or an enjoyment of engaging guests and supporting their experience at the gala. Any customer service experience, ushering experience, event experience, etc. is helpful.
Volunteers supporting check‑in will use an online platform to check in registered guests and help them find their seats.
Silent auction volunteers will help guests bid on items (training will be provided).
Set up and breakdown volunteers will assist with setting up decorations, place settings, and the silent auction.
Training Provided:
Training will be provided for all volunteer roles.
Attire:
Volunteers should wear all black, business casual, and comfortable black closed‑toe shoes. Name badges will be provided. This opportunity takes place both indoors and outdoors, so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.
Bring:
Reality Changers will provide some light food and drinks, but volunteers may bring water in a closed bottle and any snacks they like. A space for volunteers to store their belongings will be available.
Physical Requirements:
Set up and breakdown volunteers should be able to comfortably lift up to 20 lbs. Ushers and silent auction volunteers should be willing and able to stand for several hours. Check‑in volunteers should have the ability to use a computer. This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations. Volunteers who are less mobile or unable to stand for long periods may be assigned to check‑in or usher spots. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible.
Waiver:
All volunteers must complete the Reality Changers Volunteer Waiver.
Photos:
As part of this opportunity, Reality Changers asks all volunteers to sign a media release waiver, as photographers will be present during the event.
