The Opportunity
Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for a BIM Engineering Technician position supporting electrical Substation design. The BIM Engineering Technician supports an assigned group of engineers by providing technical 2D and 3D drafting support and creating construction and removal drawings/designs utilizing Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. This role will be a strategic contributor to the growth of our Renewables Lifeline Sector. Qualified candidates will be considered to work remotely from any location in the US, or if the candidate chooses, may work from any of Ulteig's existing office locations.
What You'll Do
Develop and maintain 3D BIM models of electrical substation projects throughout all project phases.
Ensure that 3D models and drawings are accurate and reflect design specifications, company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
Produce construction documents, including site plans, electrical layouts, sections, elevations, electrical one lines and schematics, panel layouts, wiring and communication diagrams, construction details, and detailed component drawings.
Collaborate with electrical, civil, mechanical, and structural engineers to ensure model coordination and clash detection.
Update and modify BIM models and drawings as designs evolve, ensuring changes are accurately documented.
Ensure all models and drawings adhere to company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
Assist project engineers and managers by providing technical drafting support, model visualizations, and document control.
Help identify and implement new BIM tools and workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
What We Expect From You
Associate's degree or certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (Bachelor's degree a plus).
Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM modeling, preferably in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
Strong skills with BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D.
Proven experience in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Knowledge of substation electrical protection and control and/or physical design is a strong plus.
Knowledge of Dynamo and/or pyRevit is beneficial.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Ability to adapt to changes in project scope and deadlines.
Good organization and communication skills to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
If working remotely must have reliable high-speed internet capabilities.
Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States.

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $32.25 - $43.75 per hour. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job‑specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role.
