DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Electrician 1, you will perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical equipment. This will include:


  • Installing electrical fixtures, conduit runs, transformers, fuse and breaker disconnect panels, lights switches, receptacles, batteries, single phase and multi-phase motors
  • Repairing safety switches, lighting fixtures, and electrical wiring
  • Maintaining appliances, dishwashing machines, dietary equipment, and telecommunications data lines
  • Identifying and troubleshooting problem areas
  • Assisting Medium Voltage Electricians in order to maintain the safe operating conditions of equipment
  • Testing new electrical appliances and equipment before use in the Center
  • Determining labor, time, and materials required to complete assigned projects

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
