Job Summary
Pre‑licensure graduate of an accredited nursing program who actively participates in the SSM Health New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the direction of an RN preceptor, provides care to patients within scope of role and professional standards. Responsible for delivering age‑appropriate care for assigned patients with a variety of medical conditions.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in nursing care activities for the population served.
Assesses patients biophysically, psychosocially, spiritually, culturally, and age‑appropriate needs, including nutrition, pain management and signs of abuse or neglect, to develop and modify the patient’s plan of care.
Develops a realistic, comprehensive patient/family education plan and provides health education and coaching.
Documents accurately and timely according to policies and procedures, including processing physician orders.
Monitors and evaluates delivery of nursing care by team members based on patient needs and professional judgment.
Collaborates with physicians and other health‑care professionals regarding all aspects of patient care.
Completes competency requirements, training, and seeks assistance to learn the role.
Demonstrates professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model and uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to evolving patient needs.
Maintains alertness and handles work in a safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
For Illinois: official passing NCLEX score.
Experience
No experience required.
Required Professional License and Certifications
Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association.
For Illinois: Registered Professional Nurse (RN) within 3 months of official NCLEX pass date and official NCLEX pass letter.
For Missouri and Oklahoma: status of failing NCLEX within 3 months of graduation date and NCLEX test date within 30 days.
For Wisconsin: status of failing NCLEX within 3 months of graduation date and NCLEX test date within 30 days; additionally hold a WI Nursing Temporary Permit.
