Job Duties
The RN/LPN demonstrates the ability to provide patient/family/caregiver teaching that is age-appropriate and adapted for individual learning needs.
Patient Intake & Documentation of Clinical Care: RN/LPNs prepare exam rooms, assist patients to exam rooms, prepare patients for age/gender appropriate assessments, document clinical intake, monitoring, patient interventions, and care outcomes. They document all care and communication provided to (or about) patients.
CLIA-Waived Lab Testing: Perform clinic-based CLIA-waived lab testing in compliance with regulations and quality assurance. Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws; prepare samples for laboratory processing. Maintain competency and stay up to date on blood collection policies and procedures.
Administer in-Office Diagnostic Tests: Conduct a variety of in-office diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, vision and hearing screenings) under the direct supervision of the healthcare provider.
Assist Healthcare Provider During Exams & Procedures: Aid the provider during examinations and procedures within scope of practice. May perform duties of a medical scribe and complete documentation during patient examinations and procedures as directed, including entering orders and referrals.
Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program: Understand and follow VFC program requirements; obtain vaccine information from the IRIS program as needed. Be familiar with vaccine schedules and screen patients prior to immunizations. Administer childhood vaccines and complete administrative requirements of the program.
Adult Vaccinations: Administer adult vaccines under direct supervision. Be familiar with CDC recommendations and obtain vaccine information from the CDC, USPSTF, and other resources as needed.
Medication Prior Authorizations: Handle medication prior authorizations with the patient’s insurance company.
Medication Injections: Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal injections under the direct supervision of the healthcare provider.
Inventory Control and Medical Supplies: Scan/order medical supplies and monitor inventory in compliance with Joint Commission and Rural Healthcare guidelines. Identify supplies that may improve safety and quality of care and communicate recommendations to the clinical lead or director.
Online Incident Reporting: Report variances, near misses, or patient complaints using the organization’s online incident reporting software. Reporting is a duty to promote safe patient care and process improvement.
EHR Clinical In-box: Process incoming and outgoing electronic documents in the EHR clinical in-box (e.g., patient cases/phone calls/portal messages, medical records, refill requests, consult notes, lab results, and other correspondence).
Miscellaneous: Aid overall office function by monitoring the front office area and waiting room for safety, privacy, and patient concerns. Contact 9-1-1 for emergencies and notify staff and leadership of incidents or complaints. Use online reporting systems and/or EHR to document per protocol and relay non-urgent information to team leads/director as needed.

Requirements
Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing with at least an AS in Nursing.
Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Registered Nurse in Idaho or a compact state license with active BLS.
