DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Semi-Skilled Laborer, you will perform a variety of routine maintenance and mechanical tasks to support facility operations. While based in the Garage Department, you will frequently collaborate with the Utility Plant and other trades teams. Your primary responsibilities will include groundskeeping, such as operating riding mowers, pruning greenery, and utilizing chainsaws for debris removal. During winter, you will be responsible for campus-wide snow removal and disposal. In addition, you will support the facility's infrastructure by cleaning storm drains, pipe tunnels, and window wells. You will play a key role in boiler plant efficiency by managing fuel beds, removing ashes, and cleaning soot from tubes. Furthermore, you will act as a vital assistant to skilled tradespeople, aiding in masonry, carpentry, and electrical projects. This work may involve mixing cement, erecting scaffolding, and performing interior and exterior painting. Throughout these duties, you will utilize a diverse range of hand and power tools to ensure the hospital buildings and grounds remain safe and well-maintained.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
