Job Summary
Occupational Health Phlebotomist to support safety and health programs by coordinating employee physicals; conducting biological monitoring; providing onsite first aid; conducting training; maintaining medical records, and reporting on health and safety metrics.
Education & Experience
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Certified medical assistant (CMA) or an Associate’s degree in a related program preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a medical assistant or other relevant experience.
Prior experience drawing blood and properly submitting lab samples for testing.
Certifications must be obtained within 3 months of employment: COHC, PFT, CPR, and First Aid.
Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Basic first aid skills and knowledge of workers’ compensation system.
Proficient in attention to detail, accuracy, and organization skills to maintain the medical office and records.
Responsibilities
Conduct biological monitoring (blood, urine, and sputum) and drug screens as needed for company-defined programs, maintain documentation, and report results as required.
Conduct pre-physicals, schedule physicals, and medical follow-ups with medical providers. Maintain employee medical files with results and records from physicals and associated follow-ups. Report medical results as required by company programs. For pre-physicals, set up and operate appropriate equipment, instruments, containers, and other devices and materials to evaluate and interpret results as applicable and appropriate.
Handle first aid cases and assist in seeking additional medical care as needed for job-related incidents that occur during normal working hours.
Order medical supplies and approve all related invoices.
Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Other duties as assigned.
Environmental Conditions, Physical & Lifting Requirements
Frequently required to use non-powered hand tools.
Work is generally performed in a standard clinical setting. Occasionally required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to, a respirator, hearing protection, and eyewear.
Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, talk, and hear; occasionally required to use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms. Requires clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.
Occasionally required to lift up to 15 pounds.
