
Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Resource Pool (Weekend Program)

The Clinical Resource Team at UPMC Western Maryland is hiring for their Weekend Program!
As a Professional Staff Nurse working in the Weekend Program with the Clinical Resource Team, you'll receive all the benefits of full‑time, while only working weekends. The schedule requires you to work 24 hours, from Friday at 3 P.M. to Monday at 7 A.M. In addition to a 10% Float Pool differential, you’ll earn a 30% shift differential on top of your base rate. Eligible participants must have a minimum of 6 months of nursing experience.

Responsibilities
Communicate safety hazards to peers and management.

Demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles and apply them in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff.
Provide detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to guide them through the episode of care and transition to another level of care or home.
Support development of students, new staff, and colleagues; may serve as a preceptor.
Create an environment of open dialogue, inquiry, and continuous development by seeking feedback and improving practice.
Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment.
Formulate daily goals and plans of care that involve the patient as a partner and consider individual needs holistically.
Ensure comprehensive patient documentation that promotes communication between caregivers.
Incorporate national professional organizations as well as business unit and health system goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
Participate in unit‑based shared governance, goal setting, and support change and transition processes to improve quality of care and the practice environment.
Act as a highly engaged full partner on the care team, responding willingly to team members for assistance and partnership.
Identify opportunities for quality improvement for colleagues and management.
Takes personal responsibility for improving patient satisfaction with quality of care and service.
Utilize research and evidence‑based practice to support improvement in clinical care, identify research issues or articles related to clinical specialty or areas of interest, discuss opportunities for quality improvement at multidisciplinary rounds, and influence patients' plans of care.
Qualifications
Zero to two years of experience required for the Professional Staff Nurse title.
Minimum 6 months of nursing experience required for the RN Weekend Program.
BSN preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
UPMC‑approved national certification preferred.
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with that state.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required, based on AHA standards, including both a didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire.
Graduate nurses have 120 days from graduation to obtain their RN license.
