Position Summary
The Boiler Operator reports to the Chief Boiler Operator and is based out of our Seabrook, New Jersey location. This individual will be responsible for supporting continuous boiler and wastewater treatment operations through equipment monitoring and laboratory analysis. A thorough understanding of basic chemistry, intermediate mathematics, industrial mechanics, and safe work practices is required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential Functions Of The Job)
Knowledge of boiler operations and ability to comprehend wastewater treatment operations
Understand and comply with plant safety rules and requirements that include proper machine guarding safety, lock out/tag out procedures, hazard communication, forklift safety, personal protection equipment, confined space entry, etc.
Perform periodic inspections and record data as assigned per shift
Collect samples for analysis as assigned per shift
Make necessary adjustments to equipment to ensure proper operating procedures
Keep an accurate and legible log of daily activities
Must acquire a “Blue Seal” NJ license in boiler operations within 1 year of employment
May be required to troubleshoot equipment and make repairs to PVC piping, pumps, boilers, air compressors, etc.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Education And Experience
Minimum Required Qualifications (Blue Seal, Grade VI M)
Current “Blue Seal” NJ high‑pressure boiler operator’s license required
A high school diploma or GED
Previously held “Black Seal” license with minimum 6 months experience working with equipment over 500 boiler horsepower, high pressure
Must successfully complete and pass forklift safety training
Operational knowledge of boilers, air compressors and pumps
Minimum Required Qualifications (Red Seal, Grade VII)
Current “Red Seal” NJ high‑pressure boiler operator’s license required
Previously held “Blue Seal” license for a minimum of 1 year, including experience with equipment that is over 1,000 boiler horsepower, high pressure
A high school diploma or GED
Must successfully complete and pass forklift safety training
Operational knowledge of boilers, air compressors and pumps
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the food/beverage industry
Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Ability to direct, coach, and train others
Consultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.
Frequent:
Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).
Occasional:
Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform confined entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.
Vision:
Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast‑paced production environment involving high speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.
Hearing:
Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
