Overview

Join the Army National Guard as an Aviation Operations Specialist. You will help operate one of the largest fleets of aircraft in the world by keeping accurate and detailed flight information records for both flight and ground crews. Training and practice in this specialty teach how to schedule and dispatch tactical aircraft missions, process flight clearances, plan flight schedules, assign air crew, coordinate flight plans, and maintain flight logs. Upon completion you have a preparation for a civilian career as a flight operations specialist.
Responsibilities

Schedule and dispatch tactical aircraft missions.
Process flight clearances and plan flight schedules.
Assign air crew and coordinate flight plans.
Maintain flight logs and detailed flight information records.
Alert crash crews of emergencies.
Interpret and post weather reports.
Training

Aviation Operations Specialist training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training and 8 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Training combines classroom instruction and field exercises under simulated combat conditions.
Qualifications

Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
Must be at least a junior in high school, or hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Age between 17 and 35.
Pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
Meet citizenship requirements.
