DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Statistician 1, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Pennsylvania's understanding of workforce and economic trends. You will be responsible for collecting and validating data on established study schedules, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of information that drives statewide decision-making. Work involves extracting data from enterprise systems, integrating it across platforms, and using statistical, spreadsheet, and relational database tools to analyze, manipulate, and summarize data or create reports.
Your work will support customers and stakeholders directly, producing descriptive reports and statistical products, helping users understand and apply data, and guiding reporting entities through collection procedures and data requirements. You will also create and evaluate tables, charts, and graphs; as well as translate analytical findings into clear written summaries that highlight trends, anomalies, and meaningful insights. Using mathematical and statistical methods, you will calculate estimates, develop trend projections, and contribute narrative sections to reports for studies, projects, and surveys. From frequency distributions to least squares and correlation and regression analyses, you will apply a wide range of statistical techniques to maintain high-quality, trusted workforce intelligence.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree that includes or is supplemented by 15 college credits in statistics or courses emphasizing the application of statistical methods; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
