Responsibilities
Conduct safety and occupational health surveys for Defense Logistics Agency Oklahoma, recommending measures to eliminate or control hazardous practices and conditions that may cause mishaps.
Prepare supplemental written safety procedures for application to local organizational components.
Provide formal training to employees and supervisors using established and accepted information pertinent to the work performed at the Depot.
Perform independent inspections of manufacturing activities where equipment operations, working conditions, and materials handled are potentially hazardous.
Investigate mishaps involving worksites, machine and equipment operations, environmental conditions, work practices, protective devices and equipment, and safety procedures to control unsafe acts and hazardous conditions.

Tour of Duty: Set Schedule.
Security Requirements: Set Schedule.
Appointment is subject to a favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorable background checks result in removal.
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.
Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt.
Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized.
Bargaining Unit Status: Yes.
Pre-Employment Physical: Not Required.
Selectees must have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification to access certain federal facilities.
This position and future selections may be used to fill vacancies for various shifts at DLA Distribution Oklahoma City.
Qualifications
B. Education Substitution : Education must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary. Must be from an accredited college or university. Transcripts must be submitted.
C. Combination : Combination of post‑high‑school education and experience may be used. The total percentage of education and experience must equal at least 100%.
Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience at GS‑07 level or equivalent. Creditable experience includes:
Work in occupational fields such as industrial hygienist, safety engineer, fire prevention engineer, health physicist, and occupational health nurse.
Inspecting or surveying workplaces for compliance.
Training workers, supervisors, or managers in safety or occupational health subjects.
Designing or modifying workplaces to control hazards.
Analyzing new or existing jobs to determine hazards.
Master’s or graduate degree in a safety or occupational health field.
Education : Graduate education: One academic year (18 semester hours) at graduate level. Foreign education must be evaluated as equivalent.
Physical Demands
Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, crouching, reaching, and lifting moderately heavy items such as large metal lids on storage containers.
Work Environment
Frequent exposure to manufacturing machinery, fumes, dust, hazardous materials, high noise levels, and temperature extremes. Protective clothing and equipment is often required. Moderate risks or discomforts such as moving parts, carts, or adverse weather conditions are present.
