The Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled Driver License Examiner to enhance highway safety through the administration of standardized tests for both commercial (CDL) and non-commercial driver license candidates. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will assess the physical and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as evaluate the mechanical condition of vehicles to ensure they meet the established safety standards for driving. You will conduct various vision tests, including telebinocular and color perception assessments, to gauge applicants' visual capabilities. Additionally, you will administer both non-commercial and commercial driver license knowledge examinations to verify that individuals possess a solid understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signage. Your responsibilities will also include conducting pre-trip, skills, and driving tests for both non-commercial and commercial licenses, adhering strictly to departmental standards. You will scrutinize applications, registrations, and permits for any signs of irregularities or fraudulent activity, while also determining vehicle specifications to ensure the correct tests are applied.
