Funding Programs Coordinator – City of Durham
Location: Durham, NC
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Hiring Range: $71,304.00 – $85,564.80

We are looking for a Funding Programs Coordinator for the Housing and Neighborhood Services Department. The role involves coordinating programs funded with federal, state, and local sources and ensuring compliance with funding requirements. The candidate will work closely with vendors, community partners, and internal stakeholders to manage projects and report program performance.

Housing and Neighborhood Services combines Affordable Housing, Code Enforcement, and Human Relations teams to execute the City Council’s affordable housing and neighborhood services goals. The department values service, teamwork, accountability, and empathy.

About The Role

Procurement and contracting

Compliance reporting

Developing planning documents

Ability To

Organize, prioritize and manage workload and corresponding deadlines

Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, stakeholders, and community partners

Duties & Responsibilities

Program Coordination: coordinate federally, state‑ and locally funded programs, with emphasis on the Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (HOPWA) program.

Project Management: facilitate procurement and contracting processes for funded projects, ensuring compliance, processing payment requests, and providing technical assistance.

Performance Management: monitor and report progress for all program components.

Compliance Reporting: collect, verify, and compile program performance data into reports that align with funding requirements.

Planning Documents: support the development of planning documents for federal funding sources and facilitate adherence.

Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or a directly related field

Five years of professional program administration and/or analytical experience in the area of assignment.

Additional Preferred Skills

Master’s degree in a related field

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Experience working with affordable housing, community development, or human services fields

Strong organizational/project management skills

Strong project and financial management skills

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and maintain positive relationships with community partners

ADA And Other Requirements
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment. Positions in this class typically require the ability to reach, stand, walk, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
