Overview
Senior Lighting / Compositing Artist - Temp (SFD / Cinematics)
The Blizzard Entertainment Animation team seeks an experienced Senior Lighting / Compositing Artist to work on Blizzard’s imaginative worlds. We are looking for someone with the experience and passion to make our shots epic (both pre-rendered and real time contents). This role is anticipated to be a hybrid position with on-site and some remote work options. The potential home studio is Irvine, CA, with flexibility based on individual circumstances. There are multiple temporary roles with roughly a two-and-a-half-month term.
Responsibilities
Design and implement lighting for characters and environments in shots that meet and enhance the given art direction.
Maintain the overall look, color balance, and quality for assigned shots to create uniformity across finished work.
Collaborate with the FX department to integrate and develop FX.
Work closely with VFX supervisors, Art Directors, Producers, Lighting/Compositing Supervisors, and Leads to achieve the final look.
Be accountable for productivity and quota targets.
Complete lighting and compositing work and perform quality control on shots.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
A minimum of 8 years of experience in game, TV, feature film, or commercial production.
Experience collaborating with Directors, Lighting Supervisors, and/or Leads to develop, define, and maintain lighting and compositing setups.
A demo reel showcasing refined artistic understanding of light, composition, and mood.
Knowledge & Skills
Well versed in Katana, Nuke, Maya, Linux, Renderman-RIS, Redshift; able to adapt to modern game engines and new pipelines.
Ability to independently design, implement, and troubleshoot complex multi-shot lighting and compositing setups.
Strong eye for cinematic lighting, color grading, and shot continuity; ability to establish and maintain a look across sequences.
Ability to determine the best approach to lighting and compositing challenges and develop the final overall look.
Proficiency in 2D tracking, layering of elements, color grading, roto work, projection of elements, and extensive 3D compositing.
Comfortable working in an iteration-intensive shot pipeline.
Extra Points
Experience in a full 3D animated pipeline.
Experience in a real-time game engine pipeline.
