Job Overview
The Cutting Edge Alumni Program Coordinator works with alumni of the Cutting Edge Program, an inclusive post‑secondary education program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The position supports alumni by promoting inclusion in the community and providing direct independent living and employment support tailored to each individual’s needs. The coordinator also collaborates with community partners and families of alumni.
Responsibilities
Alumni Support
Meet with alumni weekly or biweekly according to their membership level
Assist alumni in obtaining housing, employment, transportation, or other needed services in partnership with relevant agencies
Provide or coordinate independent‑living support, such as skill development in cleaning, shopping, budgeting, cooking, and other daily living tasks
Offer employment support, including job coaching, resource creation, and communication with vocational agencies or employers
Offer transportation support, such as bus/cab training, route mapping, technology training, and ride scheduling
Alumni Program Coordination
Collaborate with the Assistant Director for Student Transition and Independent Living & Employment Coordinator to identify alumni accommodations and post‑graduation needs
Participate in Individualized University Planning meetings for senior students
Help seniors and their families determine an appropriate membership level of support
Communicate with families through emails, phone calls, and monthly progress reports
Create and maintain community partnerships with vocational agencies, long‑term care services, and other support organizations
Create and distribute a monthly alumni newsletter
Events
Plan the Cutting Edge Reunion every five years
Plan and execute at least two alumni social events per month
Plan and execute a weekly interest group with alumni (e.g., Movie Night, Game Night, Fitness Night)
Partner with the Assistant Director for Student Transition to carry out program events such as the Concluding Ceremony and Commencement
Attend program events as assigned
University Service
Represent the Division of Student Development on institutional committees, task forces, and groups
Serve as a member of Staff meetings and retreats
Participate in campus events as a department and division representative
Job Qualifications
Necessary Education or Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or a related field
Minimum of two years of work experience with individuals with disabilities
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle check
Required Knowledge and Skills
Ability to co‑manage multiple alumni schedules
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Required Technology Skills
Ability to learn and understand assistive technology
Ability to maintain data on spreadsheets
