Administrative Support (State Affairs Committee)
The Administrative Support position consists of completing administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment, as well as researching and analyzing assigned topics. Performs special assignments, research, and report preparation. Assists supervisor in handling daily administrative duties and acts in matters where authority has been delegated. Prepares confidential correspondence, secures information necessary for preparing replies, and answers telephone inquiries. Processes a variety of correspondence, researches subject matter, and prepares replies. Trains clerical or other administrative personnel to ensure accurate and smooth work flow of the unit. Performs general office management duties. Assists in planning committee meetings and workshops. Prepares notices, detailed committee agendas, bill analyses, and other meeting materials. Records and finalizes meeting reports. Acts as official custodian of bills referred to committee. Drafts amendments and bills and edits committee bills, bill analyses, and other documents. Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge of administrative principles and practices. Knowledge of research techniques. Ability to pay attention to detail and review work for accuracy and quality of content. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member and contribute to the efficient internal functioning of the unit. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the demands of the public. Ability to handle confidential information. Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and maintain records. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to train others.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Administrative experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Salary commensurate with experience. The Legislature offers a competitive benefits package.
