Job Description

Summary: Responsible for ensuring all painting requests be carried out and completed in accordance with company standards.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: Covering trim, floors, furniture and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint. Setting up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect painters from unhealthy fumes. Preparing surfaces to be painted by washing them, filling holes and cracks with putty and sanding them until they're smooth. Performing preparatory procedures on assigned projects and organizing time to assure all proper steps are taken in completing and producing a finished job. Applying primer and other sealers to paint surfaces to ensure that paint sticks to them. Applying paint, stain and other finishes to paint surfaces using paintbrushes, rollers or sprayers. Applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures. Selecting premixed paints or mixing required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint to match specified colors. Mixing and matching paint, stain and other finishes to job specifications. Erecting scaffolding or setting up ladder to perform tasks above ground level. Graffiti removal from the interior and exterior of buildings. Assisting in maintaining records of projects; logging in length of time used to complete assigned jobs, supplies used, and expenses incurred, if any. Assisting in preparatory procedures on assigned projects and organizing time to assure all proper steps are taken in completing and producing a finished job. Monitoring inventory of supplies and tools, and communicating low stock situations to Engineering Shift Supervisor/Predictive/Preventative Maintenance Supervisor. Maintaining regular and consistent communication with Carpenter/Painter and/or Shift Supervisor regarding progress on assignments, obstacles preventing timely completion, cost overruns, etc. Completing assignments in compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety standards. Any reasonable request made by management.

Qualification requirements to perform this job successfully include: high school diploma or GED preferred. Must possess advanced knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in painting trade and ability to properly apply paints.
