Position Summary

Joe Wheeler EMC, located in beautiful and rapidly growing North Alabama, is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer who supports the planning, design, and execution of high‑voltage electrical and substation projects ranging from 15 kV to 161 kV. This role involves overseeing technical designs, coordinating with utility clients, supporting procurement and construction, and ensuring full compliance with utility regulations and national standards. The Engineer will help deliver safe, efficient, and high‑quality installations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required. Up to five years of experience in an Electric Utility System is highly preferred. Experience with utility standards, power transmission/distribution facilities, substation design, construction, operation, and maintenance is preferred. A strong understanding of protection systems, SCADA, control logic, and grounding practices is preferred. Working knowledge of project management tools, strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills are required. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) is strongly preferred.

Salary range: $85,000 per year to $125,000 per year, negotiable based on experience

Terms of Employment
