Athena Health Care Systems is looking for a part-time or per diem Dietitian to join our dynamic care team at Berkshire Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Sandisfield!

Anywhere from four to eight hours per week. Very flexible schedule. Weekly pay! Hourly rate between $38 and $60, depending on experience. Berkshire is a 57-bed all-male skilled nursing facility.

As a Dietitian, you assist in planning, organizing, developing and operating the Dining Services Department to ensure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.

Education and Experience

Must possess as a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university.

Must possess a current registration as dietician by the Committee of Dietetic Registration.

Training in cost control, food management, diet therapy, etc., preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

Monitor weights/weight changes and provide nutrition intervention when necessary.

Complete all nutrition evaluations on admissions.

Complete weekly/monthly weight audits.

Document all nutrition-related resident visits.

Create and update resident care plans.

Must be able to provide point of service meal delivery.

Follow therapeutic diets guidelines, including proper temperature and serving time.

Educate department staff in all aspects of dietary functions.

Assure the planning, preparation and serving of all therapeutic diets.

Oversee that sufficient inventory is maintained according to policy and procedure including emergency supply.

Formulate menu planning within accepted therapeutic guidelines.

Assure that menus are accurately adhered to and appropriate substitutes are made per policy.

Ensure quality and quantity of all food delivery.

Specific Requirements

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

Must be knowledgeable of dining service procedures as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines governing dietary functions in the long-term care facility.

Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.

Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Dining Service Department.

Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of the dining service areas; must perform regular inspections of dietary services areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.

Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

Must be able to read and interpret dietary cost reports, financial data, etc.

Must be able to relate information concerning the resident’s condition.

Must participate in planning and conducting inservice educational programs.
