The Agency You’ll Join
The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The administration leads efforts to make the city more affordable, reduce inequality, improve public safety, and deliver efficient and effective services. The Team You’ll Work With
NOTE: THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN ALBANY, NY.

The Mayor's Office of State Legislative Affairs serves as the principal liaison between Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Administration and the New York State Legislature.

Problems You’ll Solve
The Executive Assistant will foster productive relationships between the executive and legislative branches and assist the Mayor's administration in developing and advancing the Administration’s agenda through state law and the state budget.

About You

You can schedule meetings on behalf of SLA staff.

You can enter data into databases and Excel sheets.

You can review and track legislation.

You can facilitate interactions between elected officials' offices, city and state agencies, and the Administration, including responding to requests from members and staff promptly.

You can assist SLA staff with meeting preparations.

Minimum Required Qualifications

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state department of education or a recognized accrediting organization, and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.

Preferred Skills

You have strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.

You have administrative experience in a busy, high-demand, deadline‑oriented environment.

You can multitask.

You have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

You are proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Teams, Adobe, and Outlook.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for two continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
