Measurement Balancing Analyst (Colorado Springs, CO)

Primary Purpose
This role is responsible for analyzing, balancing, and reconciling gas and liquid measurement data to identify, investigate, and resolve lost and unaccounted for (L&U) variances, measurement discrepancies, and imbalances while ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and accurate reporting across assigned assets. The position supports SLNG, Elba Express, Bear Creek, Elba Liquefaction, SNG, MEP, and GLNG by partnering with operations, engineering, commercial, and third parties to maintain reliable asset and operational balances, improve measurement processes, and mitigate financial and operational risk.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Research and reconcile lost and unaccounted for gas and liquid on designated company assets/pipelines.

Analyze measurement data for trends, looking for discrepancies and anomalies using historical trends and operational considerations.

Perform data analysis and audits of third‑party physical measured points on Kinder Morgan assets.

Analyze measurement comparison reports and investigate discrepancies outside of defined tolerances.

Initiate, track and finalize requests for measurement adjustments from third‑party companies.

Utilize both asset and operational balances to analyze and investigate imbalances.

Work with other analysts, L&U engineers, and operations personnel to resolve imbalances.

Create and maintain asset and operational balances as required.

Analyze and verify the accuracy of system line pack on applicable pipelines.

Assist downstream business groups in tracking and resolving physical to contractual L&U variances.

Coordinate L&U meetings as required, documenting discussions and action items according to department and SOX control procedures.

Report accurate physical pipeline L&U information according to department procedures.

Complete and/or assist with point requests and point setup in measurement and accounting systems.

Provide timely responses to measurement data inquiries and report requests from internal and external customers.

Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of applicable industry standards and guidelines regarding the measurement of natural gas and liquid products (AGA, GPA, SOX, NAESB, BLM, etc.).

Acquire an understanding of the corporation’s primary business models including gathering, transport, and processing of natural gas and liquids.

Assist with system development, enhancements, testing, documentation, and training.

Help develop and implement new measurement procedures and processes.

Work with the Measurement Manager to develop project plans, set goals, tactics, and timelines.

Share technical and procedural knowledge and help train other team members as required.

Provide backup support for other team members as needed.

Notify management of immediate and potential problems affecting the quality and timeliness of measurement data.

Routinely produce grammatically correct reports, summaries, policies, procedures, and memos.

Communicate effectively (written and orally) with team members and internal/external customers.

Ensure personal conformity and support team decisions, departmental policies, procedures, and all mandated industry standards.

Participate in special projects and assignments as delegated by management.

Participate in team and department level meetings.

Organize, schedule, and conduct various meetings as required and accurately document meeting notes and action items.

Prioritize safety by attending safety meetings, acquiring knowledge of safety guidelines/goals, and working to ensure department and corporate safety guidelines are followed.

Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

Associate Degree from an accredited college or prior related field experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Education:

Associate Degree from an accredited college.

Previous experience in a related field/industry may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:

Measurement experience preferred, particularly in data collection, editing, analysis, system balancing, and L&U investigation.

Intermediate to advance proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.).

Strong math skills – ability to understand and apply equations, formulas, fractions, percentages, etc.

Technical understanding of Measurement Department functions, SCADA, Network Communications, and Data Systems (Data Integrity).

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid driver license and satisfactory driving record for travel.

Working Conditions:

Office‑based position.

Hybrid work schedule may be available.

Occasional overtime with limited notice may be required.

May require travel including overnight and/or weekends (5 - 10%).
