Position Overview
TERRADON is seeking a Geotechnical Field / Laboratory Technician to support our geotechnical engineering team. This role involves a combination of field testing, drilling observation, and laboratory testing of soil and construction materials.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on work, being outdoors, and contributing directly to development and infrastructure projects. Candidates with limited experience are encouraged to apply; we are willing to train motivated individuals.
Key Responsibilities
Perform field testing and inspection on geotechnical investigation sites and construction sites, including:
Drilling observation and notetaking
Core sampling and inspection
Soil compaction testing
Concrete sampling and testing
Asphalt testing (as applicable)
Assist with drilling operations and subsurface explorations
Conduct laboratory testing on soil, aggregate, and concrete samples
Accurately record and report field and lab data
Communicate with project managers, engineers, and contractors
Maintain equipment and ensure compliance with safety protocols
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (college degree in engineering related field preferred)
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, standing, outdoor conditions)
Strong work ethic and reliability
Preferred (but not required)
Experience in construction, materials testing, or geotechnical work
Certifications such as ACI, NICET, or WVDOH (or willingness to obtain)
Basic understanding of construction practices
