Athletic Training Resident - Ortho, Richland Full Time

Aimed to provide Athletic Trainers a broad clinical experience within twelve (12) months of rotations. The Athletic Training Resident will rotate between surgeons, non-operative physicians and other healthcare professionals seeing patients in the office and field settings, performing physical examinations and assisting with surgeries. Will be responsible for decision making in determining appropriate patient care and will be able to assist surgeons in the OR upon receiving certification as an Orthopaedic Technologist. All employees are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with PHUSCMG values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity and teamwork.

Accountabilities

Assists physicians in clinical care, including triage, casting, suture removal, vitals, communications with patients, and referrals for physical therapy, diagnostic studies, surgeries, and all other additional treatments.

Assists physicians in operating room procedures and communicates necessary information and instructions to patients for pre‑operative and post‑operative care.

Enters patient information into the electronic medical record (EMR). Specifically, the resident will be responsible for starting a note in the patient's chart, which will include their history to provide the start of a dictation for their physician.

Fills out any pre‑operative paperwork for each patient before they are taken back to surgery. This will include physical therapy prescriptions, post‑operative orders, post‑operative medications, and the surgical procedure note.

Works and communicates with the rest of their clinic team to ensure the best possible patient care and experience.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility
This is a non‑management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements
Successful completion of four academic years of pre‑professional and professional study in a specialized curriculum accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association.

In Lieu Of The Above Minimum Requirements
Team members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification.
