J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. is a North American organization providing safety and compliance guidance. We are expanding our services and seeking an Independent Contractor with industrial hygiene subject matter expertise and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credentials. The role is for an independent contractor only and does not constitute an employment relationship. Independent contractors must reside in the U. S. and be legally authorized to perform services within the United States.

To Be Considered As An Independent Contractor, Individuals Must

Operate as an independent safety consulting business (e.g., sole proprietor, incorporated entity, or equivalent)

Provide services to multiple clients and maintain a non-exclusive consulting practice

Supply their own tools, methodologies, instructional materials, and business processes necessary to deliver services

Be responsible for all taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses

Provide their own computer, equipment, and tools necessary to perform services

Maintain appropriate professional liability coverage

Travel requirements vary based on client engagements, audit needs, and training delivery, and are defined by project or statement of work.

Type of Services Requested

Provide expert advice, safety consulting and educational services to clients on industrial hygiene programs and compliance, emphasizing exposure assessment, monitoring, and hazard evaluation.

Design, develop, document, and maintain training curriculum and instructional materials for general and client-specific applications.

Conduct industrial hygiene field assessments including air sampling, noise monitoring, and evaluation of chemical, physical, and biological hazards across various industries.

Plan and execute sampling strategies in accordance with OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and other applicable standards and guidance.

Analyze sampling results, interpret data, and prepare clear, defensible technical reports summarizing findings, regulatory implications, and recommendations.

Communicate regulatory updates, recommendations, and findings to designated client contacts through reports, briefings, or presentations.

Provide advisory support to interpret regulatory requirements and practical application, without assuming responsibility for client compliance enforcement or ongoing operational oversight.

Qualifications
Education

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required.

Experience

Advanced experience conducting industrial hygiene assessments, including air and noise monitoring.

Demonstrated expertise in OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and related industrial hygiene standards and guidance.

Other Skills/Qualifications

Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to Industrial Hygiene.

Proven history of providing independent safety consulting services within consulting and/or complex corporate environments.

Proficiency using business productivity tools (MS Office suite) necessary to deliver reports, presentations, and training materials.

Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with client representatives at all levels.

Maintains a high level of regulatory expertise.

Strong working knowledge of sales, marketing, and finance concepts related to operating an independent consulting practice.

Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle to perform required services.
