Environmental Services Manager – reports to Director of Environmental Services. Full-time role (Monday-Friday, 2nd shift 2 p.m. - 12 a.m., 1 weekend per month). Provide day-to-day operational leadership for housekeeping and environmental services at a 245-bed acute care hospital.
Job Summary
Coordinate the tasks of 15-20 department associates per shift, assist in training and development, serve as liaison between administration and unit departments, and deliver the highest level of service. Manage department financials and operations to meet facility goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the department’s financial data and statistics.
Monitor unit expenditures.
Develop and recommend operating budget and ensure the department operates within budget.
Coordinate housekeeping activities with other departments.
Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise functions and activities of the department.
Establish work standards and workflow.
Implement policies and procedures for departmental operations.
Encourage and mentor staff creativity and innovation.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Proactively achieve facility goals and objectives.
Demonstrate quality leadership in meeting performance plans.
Read, develop, and administer Total Quality Management processes.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have environmental services or housekeeping experience.
One to three years of supervisory/management experience required.
Experience in an acute care hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
Strong work ethic, drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Participative approach to managing staff.
Understanding of budgeting processes and profit and loss concepts.
Excellent administrative and organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions.
CRCST or any other applicable sterile processing certification preferred.
Proficient computer skills; knowledge of MS Office products.
