
Meteorologist

WCIV in Charleston, SC has an exciting opportunity for you! The qualified candidate will be responsible for working with our team of meteorologists in the creation of weather segments, live-breaking/severe weather events, and producing weather-related stories and content for our digital and social platforms. Along with the Chief and other Meteorologists, you will be responsible for the content of the weather cast on-air and on our digital platforms. You will present on-air forecasts, issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and provide content to digital and social media.
Responsibilities
Forecasting, Producing and Presenting clear and concise weather casts, which tell a story and connect with viewers
Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events
Utilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather stories
Make public appearances on behalf of the station
Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations
Qualifications and Skills
In Depth Knowledge of forecasting
Sharp news judgement and exceptional writing skills
Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
Ability to produce impactful content for social media
Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
2 plus years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred
