Job Overview

Identify and manage risks to human health, safety, and the environment. Ensure that all sites/operations achieve and maintain statutory compliance and a safe workplace for employees and other personnel.

Lead/contribute to sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement of environmental and safety impacts.

Provide technical assistance/support to sites and stakeholders in relation to Environmental, Health, & Safety topics and issues.

Be able to step in and take on projects, working with stakeholders and vendors to manage to completion. Demonstrate flexibility when faced with challenges. Resolve to find lasting solutions.

Customer‑focus: Build relationships with stakeholders, as necessary, to understand the business, provide support, as needed, communicate, and work together to achieve targets.

Operate both independently and within the EHS team, prioritize action items, and look for efficiencies. Contribute to team objectives and reporting of EHS performance to management.

Work with stakeholders, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely delivery of EHS tasks/projects.

Ability to work remotely, across a multi‑site organization with varied operations. This will include travel within North America.

Work with stakeholders, utilize and maintain an EHS framework for the business to follow.

Maintain knowledge of all applicable Environmental, Health, & Safety laws and regulations that affect the business. Participate in industry groups and stay current with industry standards and best practices to support operations.

Conduct EH&S site visits, audits and inspections to verify regulatory compliance, utilizing vendors/consultants as necessary. Carry out risk assessments, recognizing potential hazards, impacts, and strategies to control and minimize risk.

Monitor EH&S performance and recommend actions for improvement to onsite Management and other personnel. Support implementation of action plans to improve processes or address concerns.

Participate in the development and management of procedures, policies, and working practices to meet objectives, comply with EHS obligations, and address needs.

Training – Determine who needs what training and how to deliver. This will include development of training materials and may include conducting training as necessary to ensure facility compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Facilitate safety and environmental management systems to strive for continuous improvement. Utilize EHS software to identify and track actions.

Conduct and support detailed incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and incident resolution to minimize chance of repeat occurrence. Keep management informed of significant incidents.

Support other parts of the business, as necessary, including chemical parts compliance, dangerous goods transportation, extended producer responsibility requirements, and sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities
Requires the supervision of none full‑time employees and zero part‑time employees. Responsible for supervising external vendors and/or agencies, etc.

Description of vendor source, relationship and authority – This position manages EH&S and dangerous goods vendors associated with the following:

Health and safety assessments

Industrial hygiene evaluations

Chemical parts compliance

Sustainability and CO2

Regulated wastes, recycling, and EPR/cradle‑to‑grave product stewardship

Above‑ground storage tank compliance (i.e. removals, installation, SPCC plans)

Classification and management of dangerous goods

Air permit compliance

Environmental assessments

Compliance training development and delivery

Environmental due diligence associated with property transactions

Management systems consulting – Subsurface investigations

EH&S software

All aspects of hazard classification

Qualifikationen
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.

Education/Knowledge

Bachelor’s Degree; Environmental, Health & Safety preferred

5+ years EHS experience

OSHA & EPA regulatory knowledge required

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and/or Safety Management Specialist (SMS) preferred

Familiarity with ISO standards (e.g., 14001, 45001, 50001, etc.) preferred

Experience with Chemical Compliance/dangerous Goods Transportation Preferred

Experience with state specific requirements (e.g., Prop 65, SB 258, Cal/OSHA, etc.) preferred

Experience with Sustainability/CO2 Initiatives Preferred

Experience with working remotely, supporting a multi‑site organization with varied operations preferred
