SRP is seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer/Scientist in the Corporate Air Quality Services Department. Responsibilities include utilizing advanced air quality knowledge for preparing air quality permit applications and compliance related documentation. The candidate will help ensure compliance with applicable air quality rules and regulations and stay abreast of environmental issues that may impact SRP operations.

What You'll Do

Monitor, track, evaluate, and interpret new and existing environmental regulations and legislation. Prepare and issue regulatory interpretations and comments on legislation as necessary.

Provide regulatory assistance to power system environmental staff.

Prepare and submit air quality permit applications (e.g., Non-Title V, Title V, etc.), review draft permit and technical support documents and provide comments as necessary.

Review and/or prepare and submit air quality compliance related reports, notifications, filings to regulatory authorities as appropriate.

Review and/or prepare air emission inventories, excess emissions reports, deviation reports and other agency reports.

Assist with review and/or preparation of site quarterly, semi-annual, annual reports as necessary.

Prepare air permitting applicability determinations (e.g., Clean Air Act New Source Review program).

Interface directly with regulatory agencies as appropriate.

Communicate and interact with multiple internal SRP departments as needed to support project development, permitting and operation.

Provide technical guidance in interpreting and monitoring compliance with air quality regulatory requirements and industry guidelines.

Ability to interface with Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) Data Acquisition Handling System (DAHS) software. Experience with ESC StackVision software preferred.

Education
A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience
This position may be filled at one of three levels outlined below, based on the candidate’s relevant experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Level 1 – Associate: Requires up to two (2) years of relevant experience.

Level 2 – Journey: Requires a minimum of two (2) years and less than five (5) years of relevant experience.

Level 3 – Senior: Requires five (5) or more years of relevant experience. Eligibility for advancement to the next level in the same role is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.

What It Takes To Succeed
Work performed by this position is critical to maintaining SRP compliance with environmental permits and other environmental compliance obligations. Failure to acquire necessary permits and/or licenses, and failure to maintain compliance with permits and/or licenses can result in large fines or the shutdown of a facility.

Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
