#139411 Operating Room Assistant
Under general supervision of OR leadership. Supports Clinical workflow through pick-up and transport of conscious, semi-conscious, and/or unconscious patients between treatment areas and nursing units via wheelchair, gurney, or bed. Lifting, positioning, and transferring patients requiring moderate to total assistance. Assists with transport of patients, equipment, labs, and other transport as necessary.

Responsible for set up, maintenance, and cleaning operating room equipment; delivers and retrieves equipment, assuring equipment is always available and in good condition; maintains appropriate supply inventory for items such as OR solutions, personal protective equipment, and gas tanks for surgical procedures. Other duties as designated.

Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of related experience.

Effective written and oral communication and time management skills.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Must have equipment pick-up and equipment handling storage experience.

Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

Must be able to lift over 50 pounds and able to push/pull a gurney or bed with patients weighing up to 300 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of operating room experience.

Experience working in an acute care equipment management environment.

Experience as an OR Assistant.

Special Conditions

Must be able to work various hours (including weekends, holidays, and on-call) and different locations based on business needs.

Must be willing to work overtime as needed to meet the business needs of the department.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $50,446 - $62,744 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $24.16 - $30.05

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Employees are required to comply with the University of California’s Policy on Vaccination Programs. Life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
