ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Senior Apache NiFi Administrator for a 12-month W2 contract, based in Charlotte, NC (preferred), St. Louis, MO, or Denver, CO, with a hybrid work schedule (4 days onsite per week). In this role, you will be responsible for administering, supporting, and maintaining Apache NiFi clusters in complex enterprise production environments. You will play a key part in new environment builds, cloud modernization, and platform migration initiatives, ensuring platform reliability, performance, security, and high availability. The ideal candidate will have deep operational experience with Apache NiFi, AWS cloud administration, and Terraform, as well as a strong Unix background. You will collaborate with onshore and offshore teams, remediate security vulnerabilities, maintain operational documentation, and provide incident response and troubleshooting expertise. This position is open to US citizens and Green Card holders only; sponsorship is not available.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Administer, support, and maintain Apache NiFi clusters in enterprise production environments
Manage NiFi flows, processors, queues, templates, parameter contexts, and controller services
Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of NiFi platforms
Monitor platform health, throughput, latency, failures, and overall system performance
Troubleshoot flow failures, back-pressure issues, cluster instability, and node failures
Manage NiFi security, including TLS/SSL, certificates, access controls, users, and policies
Perform root cause analysis and lead resolution of platform incidents and production issues
Ensure high availability, recoverability, node health, and data integrity across environments
Participate in new environment builds, cloud modernization, and platform migration initiatives
Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and support procedures
Administer and support Unix platforms as required for NiFi operations
Provision and manage AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Security Groups, CloudWatch, EKS, EMR, Load Balancers) using Terraform
Support secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments
Remediate security vulnerabilities, including CVE patching, OS patching, and library updates
Utilize ticketing tools such as Jira, Cherwell, or Ivanti for incident and change management
Collaborate with onshore and offshore teams in a 24x7 production support environment
Lead troubleshooting calls and clearly communicate technical issues to stakeholders
Contribute to automation scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation as needed
Utilize monitoring and observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, and Datadog
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and maintain detailed documentation
WHAT YOU BRING
5+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting Apache NiFi in enterprise environments
Strong experience with NiFi clusters, flows, processors, queues, controller services, upgrades, and configuration management
Proven ability to troubleshoot performance issues, flow failures, back-pressure, and node-level incidents
Experience managing NiFi security, including certificates, TLS/SSL, user access, and policy administration
Strong knowledge of production support, platform monitoring, and incident response
Strong hands‑on experience with AWS Administration in enterprise production environments
Working knowledge of AWS services using Terraform (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Security Groups, CloudWatch, EKS, EMR, Load Balancers)
Experience supporting secure, scalable, and highly available cloud environments
Strong hands‑on knowledge administering and supporting Unix platforms
Experience remediating security vulnerabilities, including CVE patching, OS patching, and library updates
Experience using ticketing tools such as Jira, Cherwell, Ivanti, or similar
Ability to create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational support documentation
Comfortable working in incident‑driven, 24x7 production support environments
Strong experience working with onshore and offshore teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead troubleshooting calls and clearly communicate technical issues
Detail‑oriented with strong documentation habits
Calm, organized, and effective during production incidents and escalations
Experience with firewalls, databases, Kafka, APIs, and cloud storage integrations (nice to have)
Experience with automation scripting, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure automation (nice to have)
Hands‑on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, or Datadog (nice to have)
