Position Summary
This position is accountable for performing dive operations in a marine construction work environment. All dive operations must be planned, performed, and completed in a manner that ensures the safety of the diver. The incumbent will work closely with the Operations Manager, Diving Supervisor, Dive Tenders, and other divers, and may also collaborate with the Project Superintendent and other company personnel when diving activities support company project work.

Specific Responsibilities

Works as assigned by the Diving Supervisor to ensure the safe and successful completion of all diving operations.

Performs tasks topside and underwater as directed by the Diving Supervisor.

Ensures all diver‑worn equipment is properly maintained, complete, and ready to use; assists, as required, in the maintenance and repair of all diving equipment.

Obeys all commands or signals to return to the surface immediately.

Reports any physical problems that may be encountered to the Diving Supervisor before and after any dive.

Follows all safe diving procedures in accordance with the Diving Manual, company policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory guidelines.

Prepares and keeps an emergency plan on site, including the location and telephone number of the nearest recompression facility and the contact information for transportation to the facility.

Participates in company‑sponsored training on company policies, regulatory guidelines, first aid, and CPR to ensure safe and efficient diving operations.

Participates in safety and environmental initiatives that support compliance with state and federal regulations and improve existing company programs.

Maintains confidentiality of all confidential, proprietary, or trade secret information belonging to the company.

Is personally accountable for safety, for oneself and others, and may stop work whenever an unsafe condition is anticipated or observed.

Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, subject to disciplinary action for non‑compliance.

Reports all violations of applicable laws, regulations, or company policies promptly, subject to disciplinary action for failure to do so.

Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned by immediate supervision (e.g., certification training, safety training, procedure review).

Position Requirements
A minimum of two (2) years of dive‑tending experience and successful completion of commercial dive training from a certified dive school is required. Incumbents must be at least 18 years of age; be capable of passing a physical examination; and be competent in the use of diving equipment, tools, and procedures at the depths and conditions in which work is performed. Prior background on marine‑related construction projects is preferred. The incumbent must be a good verbal communicator and work effectively as a member of the project dive team.

The company expects all employees to observe and fulfill the above safety responsibilities and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Physical/Mental Requirements
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. Additional requirements include wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and being able to identify critical issues and formulate action plans at all management levels. The incumbent must remain calm during emergencies, respond appropriately, and be capable of evacuating the work area promptly when necessary.

In Addition, Divers Must Also Be Capable Of

Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, including getting onto and off of work barges, boats, vessels, or dock facilities of varying heights.

Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting for long periods.

Working in underwater environments of various depths up to 60 FT.

Working in confined spaces.

Carrying objects up to 50 lbs. as required.

Adapting to extreme temperature and outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure.

Remaining calm during emergencies and responding appropriately.
