Summary / Job Scope
Graduate level advisor in occupational health and safety. Develops and implements procedures to control accident and health exposures. Provides guidance, awareness and proactive leadership to staff and contractors. Drives change, advocates and consults on safety matters.
Key Responsibilities
Administer safety program: collect injury/accident data, maintain Safety Pyramid and summary reports across North America.
Ensure compliance with MSHA rules and regulations.
Assist with worker‑compensation claims reporting and follow‑up (CAN).
Manage health and safety management system: data input, monthly reporting, documentation.
Collaborate with stakeholders to organize safety trainings and medical exams.
Research best safety practices, tools, software and identify opportunities for improvement.
Support corrective action management for regulatory inspections, internal and external audits.
Maintain safety documentation for audits.
Administer safety database (eCompliance, e‑Docs, MSDS).
Participate in plant health and safety meetings, including plant Joint Health & Safety Committee.
Contribute to VCNA policy and program development (safety package, alerts, posters, material).
Support field inspections.
Assist with invoicing and procurement activities.
Support drug and alcohol testing program (US).
Develop and maintain safety procedures and programs.
Monitor adherence to safety policies and prepare discrepancy reports.
Provide leadership on ISO safety certification.
Support employees in reporting corrective actions and improvement opportunities.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word), PowerBI, pivot tables, dashboards.
Education / Experience Requirements
Recent graduate within the last 2 years with relevant background.
Bachelor’s degree (BSc or BEng) from a four‑year college or university, or equivalent education and experience.
Equivalents may include accredited non‑university/technical safety program and direct safety supervision in an industrial environment.
Other Requirements
Travel Requirement
– Frequent travel up to 50 %, including US travel; passport required.
Physical Demands
– Moderate physical activity: walking, sitting, standing, ladder use, keyboarding up to 50 % of the day; able to lift up to 20 lb.
Work Environment
– Exposure to elements, dust, noise and other industrial by‑products; requires concentration for long periods.
