Job Summary
Performs analysis of various products, testing for various elements while following best practices to uphold safety and quality standards.

Essential Functions

Analyzes products including testing proximate, sensory and physical analysis.

Cleans laboratory equipment and instruments.

Performs basic maintenance and troubleshooting, coordinating with vendor support as required.

Calibrates equipment, measures accurately, handles chemicals safely, and records test results.

Actively participates in teams and on projects to improve metrics for the area of responsibility.

Communicates clearly with co‑workers and leadership within the lab and with other Glanbia departments.

Reports safety, food safety, quality, sustainability, and housekeeping problems to the direct supervisor immediately.

Complies with occupational safety and health standards and all relevant regulations.

Ensures compliance with all food safety regulations (SQC, FDA, PMO).

Maintains regular and timely attendance.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Level Qualifications
Laboratory analysts are assigned to an analyst level based on competency in the testing performed.

Requirements for All Levels

High school diploma or equivalent with knowledge of biology and chemistry.

Proficiency in math (multiplication and division).

Attention to detail and ability to adjust measuring instruments and interpret results.

Accurately accomplish assigned tasks.

Read and interpret product specifications in English.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Computer experience required.

Operate or learn to operate relevant equipment.

Excellent record in safety, attendance, and punctuality.

Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.

Ability to stand and walk throughout the shift.

Read and write instructions in English.

Knowledge of proper use of all cleaning chemicals.

Level I

All new laboratory analysts begin at Level I and receive training in one laboratory position.

Training period typically lasts a minimum of two calendar weeks.

Competency is assessed by completion of the Basic Knowledge Quiz (BKQ) and Basic Operational Quiz (BOQ).

State certification may be required depending on the position.

Physical Demands

Frequently (51–75%) stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel.

Occasionally (25–50%) sit, reach with hands and arms, lift or move 26 to 60 lbs.

Rarely (1–25%) climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must be able to wear a respirator if physically able.

Vision requirements: clear vision at 20 inches or less and at 20 feet or more, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus; corrective lenses may be worn.

Typical Environmental Conditions

Exposure to >85 dB noise levels, requiring hearing protection.

Exposure to humidity, intense heat, air contamination, fumes, and toxic chemicals.

Exposure to airborne dairy powders.

Work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground risk of fall, or electrical shock.

Must perform essential duties efficiently and accurately, without causing significant safety threat to self or others.
