Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site position for a Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanic located in Ripon, WI. Responsibilities include diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment, as well as performing preventive maintenance and inspections. The mechanic will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, ensure that equipment complies with safety standards, and maintain accurate records of all repairs and services. The role requires efficient and quality‑focused work to support city operations.
Qualifications
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment systems
Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
Skilled in preventive maintenance and general repair practices
Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines for handling heavy equipment
Ability to maintain accurate service and maintenance records
Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently
ASE certification or equivalent is preferred
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus
Valid driver’s license is required; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred
Compensation
Starting wage: $27.81 – $32.00+ per hour (based on experience)
Overtime and on‑call opportunities during snow removal and emergency response
