Position Summary
A Project Manager Trainee is a part-time associate who works directly under a project coordinator or manager. The trainee must provide a flexible schedule and willingness to learn new skills in the event they are tasked with a variety of jobs. This position will provide the trainee with real-world experience along with multiple skills to progress in their field of study. The role of this position is to support the larger goals of the organization and clients. Our projects and clients are diverse and demanding, therefore flexibility and excellence are expected.
This paid trainee position offers a flexible schedule of approximately 20–30 hours per week. The goal of the AWPM/Memphis Stormwater Quality and Quantity (MSQ2) Trainee Program is to provide college students with a rewarding, hands-on introduction to the technical and professional skills required for careers in Civil Engineering, Stormwater Management, Land Surveying, and GIS.
Essential Functions
Coordinate with team members to fulfill project goals.
Support problem solving and conflict management efforts.
Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and current technologies.
Attend regular meetings, provide project updates, and help ensure timely task completion and deliverable submission.
Assist with the development of project plans.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills including student leadership, volunteerism, or other community involvement.
Maintain professional relationships with associates and clients.
Apply acquired academic knowledge to special projects and deliverables.
Manage multiple and changing priorities to meet deadlines.
Execute tasks within short timelines to deliver results through project management, issue identification and remediation, real-time adjustments and status reporting.
Ability to take direction, learn and process information quickly to complete tasks.
Perform root cause analysis of assignments to identify process improvements.
Qualifications
Education
– We are seeking candidates that are pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Must be enrolled and actively pursuing a college or university degree and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5; recommended majors include but not limited to Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Project Management, or other related fields of study.
Skills
– Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
