Position Purpose
The Milton School District is seeking an adaptive and student-centered leader to serve as Principal of Milton Elementary School. This position is central to ensuring a strong, inclusive school culture while advancing high-quality instruction that meets the needs of all students. The principal will lead the development and refinement of systems that support academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and equitable access to learning. This includes overseeing curriculum implementation aligned with New Hampshire ED 306 standards, strengthening intervention and support structures, and fostering a collaborative professional culture among staff.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep commitment to building a positive school environment where all students feel known, supported, and challenged, while also demonstrating the ability to lead continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making and aligned instructional practices.
Instructional Leadership and Continuous Improvement
Lead the implementation and ongoing refinement of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices aligned with New Hampshire ED 306 standards.
Supervise and evaluate instructional staff using the district's approved evaluation model (Marzano).
Establish and monitor systems for data use, including assessment, progress monitoring, and intervention planning.
Support consistent instructional practices across grade levels to ensure high-quality learning experiences for all students.
School Culture and Student Support Systems
Develop and sustain a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school culture.
Ensure systems are in place to meet the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students.
Promote practices that support student engagement, belonging, and well-being.
Maintain high expectations for student conduct, safety, and school climate.
Staff Development and Collaborative Structures
Hire, supervise, and support certified and support staff.
Facilitate collaborative team structures, including grade-level and intervention teams.
Support professional learning aligned with district priorities and school-based needs.
Build leadership capacity among staff to support continuous improvement efforts.
Operations and Organizational Management
Oversee daily building operations, including scheduling, safety procedures, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with district leadership on budget development and management.
Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
Communication and Community Engagement
Serve as the primary liaison between Milton Elementary School and the broader community.
Maintain clear, consistent, and transparent communication with families and staff.
Partner with families and community organizations to support student success.
Align school-based practices with district goals and priorities.

Master's degree (required) in educational leadership or related field.

Strong understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and student support frameworks.
Experience using student data to inform instructional decision-making.
Proven ability to build collaborative teams and support staff development.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
