Actalent is Hiring a Senior Commodity Manager
The Senior Commodity Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Plastics (Plastic Injection parts, resin, etc.), Textile Goods (DoW – Berry Compliance & Commercial), and Optics commodities from inception to completion. This role involves working closely with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring quality and compliance across the supply chain. The position may also support other commodity areas within the global team.
Responsibilities
Negotiate new contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
Visit suppliers to ensure they meet expectations on quality, delivery, and compliance.
Own the strategy for plastic injection and textile commodities.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and other supply chain partners to understand business needs.
Adhere to procurement department operating procedures, including compliance with government regulations.
Create and execute purchase order agreements.
Participate in company events.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, achieve cost reduction targets, and improve raw material inventory turns and lead‑times.
Utilize the ERP System (Sage) for managing processes.
Maintain supplier performance by conducting investigations and reviewing quality reports to take corrective actions.
Engage with engineering teams to become familiar with part numbers and drawings.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in a business‑related field is preferred.
8+ years of experience in negotiation and buying.
Contract negotiation experience with the ability to negotiate terms and conditions.
Proficiency in Excel.
ERP system experience.
Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in Aerospace or Tier 1/2 Automotive sectors.
Knowledge of materials management and compliance with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and DAR (Defense Acquisition Regulations).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience managing a spend of over $15 million.
Experience managing over 50 suppliers.
Understanding of government and DOD compliance.
Work Environment
The role offers a flexible start time between 6:00 am and 8:30 am, working 9 hours each day with every other Friday off.
