Senior Center Recreation Coordinator
We are seeking a Senior Center Recreation Coordinator to help develop, organize, and implement programs for one of the best senior centers in the state. This role provides an opportunity to shape meaningful experiences for older adults in a vibrant community‑focused environment.
Responsibilities
Design, coordinate, and deliver engaging programs for adults 50+, including classes, trips, sports, and special events.
Collaborate with fellow coordinators to develop and enhance citywide senior services.
Organize program logistics – scheduling, staffing, supplies, and program evaluation.
Transport participants safely using a 15‑passenger van and may lead group hikes up to 8 miles.
Additional responsibilities include creating innovative programs to keep Auburn’s senior community active, connected, and thriving.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in recreation or related field
Two (2) years of experience coordinating and organizing programs and events
or six (6) years of experience in a related field
Valid driver’s license without impending loss at the time of appointment and throughout employment
Desired Qualifications
Experience coordinating senior and/or community based programs
Experience operating a 15‑passenger van
Experience with staff/volunteer coordination
Experience with budgeting
Experience with recreation software such as ActiveNet
