A long established and growing precision manufacturing company in the Deer Park, NY area is seeking an experienced
Machine Shop Manager
to lead daily operations across CNC machining, manual machining, assembly, quality, and safety.
This is a hands‑on leadership role requiring strong technical knowledge, team development skills, and a continuous improvement mindset. This role will have a strong voice in the organization.
Position Overview
The Machine Shop Manager oversees all machining and assembly operations, ensuring high‑quality production, efficient workflow, and a safe, well‑organized shop environment. The ideal candidate has deep experience with
CNC mills, CNC lathes, manual machining equipment, tooling, setups, machining processes, and assembly operations , along with strong leadership and problem‑solving abilities.
This role is responsible for driving productivity, maintaining quality standards, supporting operators, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across the shop.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily operations of CNC machining, manual machining, and assembly areas
Provide hands‑on support with setups, tooling, machining processes, and troubleshooting
Ensure all work meets quality standards, tolerances, and customer specifications
Maintain a strong safety culture and enforce safe work practices
Oversee workflow, job prioritization, and production scheduling
Mentor machinists and assembly personnel
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams
Maintain equipment, coordinate repairs, and ensure proper preventive maintenance
Support new equipment evaluation and process improvements
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment
Qualifications
Strong background in CNC machining (mills and lathes) and manual machining
Ability to run machines and assist operators when needed is a plus
Experience with assembly processes and mechanical build‑ups is a plus
Solid understanding of machining processes.
Working knowledge of quality inspection methods and shop measurement tools
Proven leadership experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment
Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement
Excellent communication, organization, and decision‑making skills
Ability to manage workflow, meet deadlines, and drive team performance
