About the Role
Green Products Packaging is a family Owned and operated, SQF certified Composite Can Manufacturer headquartered in Perris California. We manufacture packaging primarily for the snack food industry and occasionally for other industries as well. We pride ourselves on delivering quality products, and excellent hands‑on customer service to our customers and treating our employees as part of the family. GPPC has just Opened its Second Location in Toledo Ohio. The New location is already SQF compliant. There are two SQF modules applicable to our facility: System Elements (Module 2), and Food Packaging Manufacturing (Module 13).

General Summary
Oversees the plant SQF program to ensure the current level of certification is maintained. Responsible for maintaining and ensuring compliance with SQF Code requirements applicable to the facility, specifically Food Safety System Elements (Module 2) and Food Packaging Manufacturing (Module 13). Prepare and assist in annual SQF audits. Conduct annual re‑assessment of SQF Manual and all supporting information including validations of all work instructions. Maintain and assist in all updates to the current processes and work instructions. Oversee the accuracy of the documents produced from the program. Oversee, adjust, and participate in Quality Control Program. Willingness to perform all tasks given by management.

Essential Job Duties

Ensure the food safety policies, procedures and regulations are trained, implemented and adhered to by all team members.

Oversee the implementation, improvement and verification and validation of the SQF program and maintain the integrity of the system.

Facilitate training of the food safety and quality standards. Enforce the operating standards and good manufacturing practices of the facilities and all required food safety or SQF requirements.

Maintain procedures and documentation for duties associated with the quality department and all other departments regarding food safety and quality.

Responsible for the evaluation and implementation of changes to the SQF Code and for adherence to the current code.

Responsible for monitoring and enforcing a controlled process regarding food safety, quality and regulatory requirements.

Assist the management team in root cause analysis, problem solving, correction actions and follow through with resolution to food safety or quality issue.

Resolve and document customer complaints and utilize for trend and improved practices.

Work with department managers to verify current procedures and/or cleaning practices are being adhered to.

Schedule and oversee all SQF and third‑party audits and the internal audit programs.

Work with the USDA AMS staff and assure regulatory requirements are met or exceeded and trend for process improvements.

Verify that all HACCP, QA records and quality checks are completed as required and evaluate the performance of the Quality team positions.

Implement and oversee the Supplier Approval Process, review and update annual approval documents to assure suppliers are adhering to required criteria.

Monitor and review the product sampling program as required for shell egg grading.

Review and evaluate food safety and quality data for statistical trending.

Oversee the company Pest Control and Food Defense program.

Understand, explain and demonstrate how to operate all equipment and instrumentation utilized by the quality assurance department and review and trend the calibration of the equipment.

Operate as Quality Control lead of team, responsible for taking accurate measurements of product dimensions during all QC scheduled checks. Proper and accurate documentation and records of all QC activities. Check product as it is received and shipped and ensure everything meets our standards.

When QC backup is not on site perform daily tasks including being on the production line as an extra set of hands, providing breaks and operating production equipment.

Maintain an active interest in performance level, attendance, and attitude.

Follow all safety practices and protocols.

Perform all duties as apparent or assigned.

Ensure all SQF requirements relevant to Modules 2 and 13 are implemented, maintained, and audit‑ready at all times.

Responsible for maintaining SQF certification for applicable modules (Module 2 – System Elements and Module 13 – Food Packaging Manufacturing) and ensuring full facility compliance.

Knowledge and Experience

BS degree in a Food Science is preferred with 3 to 5 years of experience in SQF, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, or a related field.

Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Possess the ability to perform basic math, algebraic, and geometrical equations and formulas. Must be able to compute mathematical conversions.

Proficient in MS Office applications.

Should be HACCP certified or possess a high level of HACCP knowledge.

Must be an SQF Certified Practitioner.

Leadership role in a food manufacturing facility.

Excellent knowledge of HACCP & HARPC and experience in implementation of Food Safety Management Plans.

Certification by recognized HACCP training provider required.

Knowledge of regulations and guidelines imposed by federal, state agencies, and authorities.

Working knowledge of FDA regulations and guidelines.

GFSI training required (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, etc.).

Experience in internal auditing.

Extensive, up to date experience or knowledge in SQF Modules 2 and 13.
