This role provides direct clinical patient care. The nurse assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis and at the unit level. The role is responsible for supervision of staff to which appropriate care is delegated. The role is accountable to support the CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients.
Assume responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
Direct care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and infection control, with the goal to discharge the patient at an optimum level of care. Coordinate and plan patient care within the prescribed medical regime, administer all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy, and perform HICS responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.
Know the hospital’s emergency codes, including purpose and appropriate action for each, and adhere to hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (preferred).
Experience
Recent acute care experience (preferred).
Certifications
Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
AHA BLS; and if applicable, AHA ACLS and/or ENPC/PALS and/or NRP.
TNCC, CPI.
