Job Description
Part‑time EMS Skills Instructors work with Faculty/Instructors to provide students with hands‑on experience in a controlled laboratory environment. They assist in teaching course material, facilitating student learning, and supporting faculty in achieving course objectives.
Purpose and Scope
Assist in teaching and evaluating EMSP students in clinical and laboratory settings, act as liaison between clinical site staff and students, and report incidents and progress to the EMSP Director.
Essential Job Functions
Mentor and teach EMSP students in the clinical and lab environment.
Act as liaison between the clinical site staff and the student.
Notify the EMSP Director of incidents in the clinical environment.
Provide regular reports of student progress.
Serve as an ambassador of the EMSP program with the clinical site and students.
Compile paperwork as required by the EMSP program (timesheets, site evaluations, program evaluations, student evaluations).
Perform duties of classroom and laboratory skills instructor as needed.
Complete other reasonable, related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Broad knowledge of EMS sciences and day‑to‑day operations.
Ability to perform and demonstrate all skills required to pass the EMS National Registry examination.
Ability to mentor students in a lab setting.
Ability to work independently without close supervision.
Physical Abilities
Frequent lifting of equipment up to 100 pounds.
Frequent standing for long periods.
Ability to perform time‑sensitive tasks, communicate in fluent English, and manipulate EMS equipment.
Navigate various physical environments and weather conditions.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
Schedule varies and may include evenings and weekends.
Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other office equipment.
Required Qualifications
Two years of EMS experience as a paramedic.
Current Texas State paramedic certification/license.
Current CPR certification (adult, child, infant, and obstructed airway) within 90 days of starting.
Salary and Benefits
Hourly pay rate: $29.68.
