Diesel Service Technician
We're on the lookout for a Diesel Service Technician to join our Joliet team at Equipment Plus Services. If you're excited about teaming up with other techs to keep our fleet of vehicles running smoothly, this is the place for you. You'll also get to work on some machinery at our post‑collection facility and in our container shop.
Responsibilities
Maintain fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery at the post‑collection facility and container shop.
Diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform road tests to verify repairs.
Ensure repairs meet safety standards and comply with federal and state regulations; conduct inspections and report safety concerns.
Track parts and equipment inventory; communicate needs and assist with budget‑friendly purchasing.
Keep detailed records of all maintenance work.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
5 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
Proficiency diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and ABS systems.
Must have own set of tools.
CDL Class B license is a plus.
Availability for afternoon shifts, occasional overtime or weekend work.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Welding experience is a plus.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze parts and systems on trucks and tractor‑trailers.
Ability to work with moderate supervision and follow established procedures.
Physically capable of standing for long periods in a fast‑paced environment.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
