Recreation Therapist - Behavioral Health

Responsibilities
Conducts a therapeutic recreation program within the hospital to facilitate rehabilitation of the physically and mentally disabled. The Activity Therapist directs patient participation in selected activities such as games, social activities, sports, or music to create an atmosphere of sociability, provide a means of creative expression, and facilitate the learning of skills for recreation during hospitalization and after discharge in the community. Creates an environment that allows patients to explore their own potential, cultivate positive morale, and minimize distress of illness.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Recreation Therapy, Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, or a related field.
Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Registered Therapeutic Recreator (RTR) preferred.
Minimum one (1) year experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitative, or SNF setting preferred.

St. Joseph Hospital - Elgin offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $21.43 to $31.05. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selection, considering factors such as skill set, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
