Position: Pharmacist
Position Summary: Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling and teaching. Pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patients’ drug therapies, and provide drug information. The pharmacist supervises and directs supportive staff, and may assume the essential responsibilities of the Director of Pharmacy in the absence of Pharmacy Management.

Responsibilities
Pharmacist responsibilities include:

Providing pharmaceutical care through drug distribution and patient counseling.

Monitoring patients’ drug therapies.

Providing drug information.

Supervising and directing supportive staff.

Assuming the duties of Director of Pharmacy when required.

Qualifications

Licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, or eligible for Texas licensure to be completed within 120 days of hire.

0‑2 years experience in pharmacy services; hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Demonstrates high‑level organizational skills.

Demonstrates independent functioning.

CPR certification within 60 days of hire; PALS recommended for Pediatric Pharmacy Satellite; ACLS recommended for Adult Critical Care Pharmacy Satellite.

Ability to read and write in English.

Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.

Bending and lifting (25 lbs), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling.

Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately; ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff; ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and schedule; ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests.

Potential exposure to agents and toxic chemicals.
