What You Will Do

Research, collect and analyze information. Identify opportunities, develop solutions, and lead through resolution.

Collaborate on performance improvement activities as indicated by outcomes in program efficiency and patient experience.

Responsible for distribution of analytical reports.

Utilize multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports and develop educational materials. Incorporate basic knowledge of Trinity Health policies, practices and processes to ensure quality, confidentiality and safety are prioritized.

Demonstrate knowledge of departmental processes and procedures and the ability to readily acquire new knowledge.

Data Management & Analysis: Research and compile information to support ad‑hoc operational projects and initiatives. Synthesize and analyze data and provide detailed summaries including graphical data presentations illustrating trends and recommending practical options or solutions while considering the impact on business strategy and supporting leadership decision‑making. Leverage program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI and impacts. Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Program & Code of Conduct, and other policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure adherence and reflect honest, ethical, and professional behavior and safe work practices.

Specialist I
Responsible for pre‑registration, scheduling, electronically verifying insurance eligibility and accurately identifying and collecting patient financial responsibility. Handles complex scheduled events, including high‑dollar testing, the associated studies and those with study‑specific instructions, and communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service. Begins the overall patient experience and initiates the billing process for any services provided by the hospital.

Specialist II
Trinity Health Specialist (I‑II) Scheduling, Patient Access. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of multiple scheduling systems and demonstrate proficiency in complex diagnostic testing appointment scheduling processes with a minimum of five years of scheduling experience in an acute care setting.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Two to five years of experience in an area of expertise such as scheduling, financial clearance, or patient access.

National certification in HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire.

Must be proficient in the use of patient registration/accounting systems and related software.

Additional Qualifications (nice to have)

Associate’s Degree preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of scheduling with mastery in at least three modalities and insurance verification processes, with three years of scheduling experience in an acute care setting.

Experience in complex facility‑based ancillary testing across multiple facilities and states.

Strong knowledge of third‑party and government payer billing and reimbursement guidelines, as well as department performance standards and policies and procedures.

Physical & Mental Requirements & Working Conditions

Exposure to conditions that may be considered unpleasant to sight, touch, sound and/or smell (direct or indirect healthcare support services). Occasional exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mists and gases and biohazards.

Occasional exposure to noise, infectious waste, diseases and conditions. Occasional exposure to interruptions, shifting priorities and stressful situations.

Requires the ability to follow tasks through completion, understand and relate to complex ideas or concepts, remember multiple tasks and regimens over long periods and work on concurrent tasks or projects.

Read small print, hear sounds and verbal communications and give or receive instructions in a somewhat noisy environment.

Perform manual dexterity activities and handle objects. Frequently climb, kneel, crouch, and operate foot controls. Occasionally use a computer or other technology.

Sit frequently and adjust physical position or activity. Maintain a safe working environment and use available personal protective equipment.

Comply with the workplace’s Code of Conduct, policies, procedures and guidelines. Provide assistance in the event of an emergency.

Occasionally stand or walk, lift up to 30 pounds unassisted, bend, stoop, reach, push or pull. Work indoors or at various sites under temperature‑controlled and well‑lit conditions. May encounter worksites that vary in environmental conditions or travel to worksites with varying internal and external conditions.
